Lazy Climbers workshop description

Lazy Climbers workshop teaches you rather than fight gravity, have your body make use of it and find a balance with the tree you are climbing. Artist Pia Lindman and acrobat Katja Echterbecker have located suitable trees around Haus der Kulturen der Welt and developed safe and easy ways to climb them, quite like the sloth: slowly, with contemplation – and lazily. As lazy climbers, we explore trees as living bodies with which to connect through gravity and our own bodies. This brings our bodies to the edges of other dimensions, experiences, and perceptions: what does the world look like upside down, while hanging off of a tree branch?
The workshops start from Haus der Kulturen der Welt every second Friday of the month at 18:00 (8.7, 12.8, 9.9, and 14.10 2011). They are intended for such adults who usually do not climb trees, but we accept advanced climbers should there be room. This workshop cannot accommodate children, but on popular request, we may arrange a separate Children's Lazy Climbers. Stay tuned!
Next Lazy Climbers workshop for adults is Friday 12th of August, please confirm your participation by pre-registration to Pia Lindman: piuska@mac.com.
